Antonio RĂŒdigers Mutter stammt aus Sierra Leone und war aufgrund des dort herrschenden BĂŒrgerkriegs nach Deutschland geflohen.[1] RĂŒdiger wuchs mit vier Schwestern und seinem acht Jahre Ă€lteren Halbbruder Sahr Senesie in seiner Geburtsstadt Berlin im Bezirk Neukölln bei seiner alleinerziehenden Mutter auf.[2] Senesie, der ebenfalls ProfifuĂballer war, ist seit 2024 als sein Berater tĂ€tig.[3]
RĂŒdiger spielte in seiner Jugend u. a. fĂŒr die Neuköllner Vereine VfB Sperber Neukölln, Tasmania Gropiusstadt und die Neuköllner Sportfreunde 1907. Im Jahr 2006 schloss er sich Hertha 03 Zehlendorf an, von der er 2008 in die Jugend von Borussia Dortmund wechselte.
Im FrĂŒhjahr 2011 unterschrieb der 1,90 Meter groĂe RĂŒdiger einen Vertrag beim VfB Stuttgart, obwohl er wegen dieses Wechsels ein halbes Jahr lang nicht spielberechtigt war.[4] Am 23.
